BLESSED ARE THE PEACEMAKERS,
FOR THEY WILL BE CALLED SONS OF GOD
People all over the world celebrate
Christmas today as a day of peace and joy. When Jesus was born in Bethlehem,
angelic music praised the Lord and offered peace to people of goodwill. Christ,
who was considered the saviour of mankind, was not born in a palace but in a
stable, thus signifying that the meek and the humble will inherit the earth.
The precious peace can be acquired only by our goodwill towards others and by
developing tolerance to people of all castes and creeds. Humility will enable
us to believe in the equality of men of all hues. This is the true message of
Christmas. This cardinal message offers the most needed solution to the ravages
the present-day world faces. India, a country historically noted for its spirit
of tolerance, is facing some hiccups of intolerance today. Terrorism has spread
its tentacles to many parts of the world, hitting innocent people. Even the
mighty nations have failed to overpower and contain terrorists. Consequently,
people fear that terrorism could cause total annihilation.” Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they will be called sons of God.”
In order to escape from such a
catastrophe, it is essential that a peaceful world order is established sooner
rather than later. In this onerous task, educational institutions can light the
lamp of hope. Along with academic excellence, schools should concentrate on
character-building among children. As part of value education, schools can
inculcate in children the concept of sarva dharmi samanathuva. This means
giving equal respect and reverence to all religions. Scholars of different
religions can be invited to have inter-religious dialogues, with the
participation of children. Organizing periodic inter-religious prayers in
schools could pave the right path to induce a sober religious disposition among
students.
The day is joyous, the air smells festive
and everything is beginning to look up. The festival of Christmas .It brings
with it lot of happiness. It commemorates the good, ushers in the new, and
encourages feelings of oneness and harmony. Christmas is the time when the
whole community comes together and bids adieu to the year, praying for a
prosperous and peaceful New Year."God continues to love us all, even the
worst of us.""You may have mistaken ideas, you may have made a
complete mess of things, but the Lord continues to love you," Wish you
Merry Christmas to all.
